Everyone has their own preference for how they like their eggs, and it seems that across the USA, regional differences can be found in how different states prefer their eggs! The USA represents a considerable demand and supply for eggs, with a large consumer basis with a marked appetite for eggs as well as a healthy production market.

It’s no wonder that people are fond of eating eggs; eggs are prop full of healthy nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They are very useful as part of a healthy and balanced diet and serve as a good source of protein. Eating eggs regularly has been linked to health benefits including assisting with weight loss, supporting brain health and as a source of quality proteins!

Across the world, there is a large discrepancy in the number of eggs people consume every year. According to recent reports, the average American ate around 286 eggs in 2020, down from 293.6 in 2019 and 287.5 in 2018. This is more than the United Kingdom, where people ate, on average, an estimated 197 eggs in 2019 and 198 in 2018. In contrast, the consumption in Mexico was higher, at 368 eggs for 2018, and lower for South Africa, with an estimated 130 eggs per person per annum for 2018.
