How did National Egg Month Originate?
The exact origins of National Egg Month are somewhat murky, but it is believed that this celebration started in the 1920’s or the 1930’s, and today it is celebrated with events including egg parades, egg day festivals and more!
National Egg Month was originally not allocated to one specific month, but was celebrated in a haphazard fashion, depending on its popularity at the time. In the 1990’s, the American Egg Board finally determined that National Egg Month should be celebrated in May of each year, the period just after the Easter rush for eggs.
